Wed, January 21, 2009 - 9:18 PMTHE HOLLIES BUBBLEGUM?!!. I'LL GIVE YOU THE RASPBERRIES WITH A P. AND THE MONKEES. BUT THE HOLLIES WERE A SOPHISTICATED GROUP WHO DELIVERED LIVE PERFORMANCES ON TV WITH SOME GREAT PUNKY STYLE SONGS. SONGS LIKE I'M ALIVE OR PAY YOU BACK WITH INTEREST OR DEAR ELOISE. OR LOOK THRIUGH ANY WINDOW. OR STOP STOP STOP IS HARDLY BUBBLEGUM. IT WOULD BE LIKE ME SAYING THE ANIMALS OR SMALL FACES ARE BUBBLEGUM. TOMMY JAMES AND SHONDELLS.OR OHIO EXPRESS OR 1910 FRUITGUM CO OR GRASSROOTS DEPENDING ON THE ERA THOSE I'LL CONCEDE. PLEASE GIVE ME AN EXAMPLE OF A SONG FROM THE HOLLIES THAT YOU THINK IS BUBBLEGUM. Wed, January 21, 2009 - 10:20 PMI am not referring to the Hollies as Bubble Gum, in a negative way. In fact I am praising them. What about Carrie Ann or Just One Look, or even Bus Stop. -

Wed, January 21, 2009 - 10:40 PMI GET THAT BUBBLEGUM WAS NOT MEANT TO BE NEGATIVE. BUT I CAN NAME 4 SONGS FOR EVERY ONE YOU MAY THINK IS BUBBLEGUM. I FIGURED CARRIE ANN WOULD COME UP I'LL GIVE YOU THAT ONE. JUST ONE LOOK.. BUS STOP . NO . AN EXAMPLE IS I THINK WE'RE ALONE NOW TOMMY JAMES. GRASSROOTS I'D WAIT A MILLION YEARS. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY. SIMON SAYS. AS FAR AS THE MONKEES GO. MIKE NESMITH SONGS WERE NOT BUBBLE GUM NOR WAS THE PORPOISE SONG. THE HEAD SOUNDTRACK WAS NOT BUBBLEGUM YOU HAD FRANK ZAPPA IN IT. BUT I'LL GRANT YOU THERE WERE A MULTITUDE IN THE EARLY PART OF THEIR CAREER. THE YELLOW BALLOON SONG IS CONSIDERED SUNSHINE MUSIC NOT BUBBLEGUM. IT'S ALSO ABOUT DRUGS.. ANYWAY I HAVE MY YOUTUBE SITE WITH OVER 250 CANADIAN SONGS AT TOKENHIPPIE54. CHECK THOSE OUT YOU WON;T FIND MUCH BUBBLEGUM. BUT PSYCH AND PUNKY STYLE TRACKS WITH A FEW POP SONGS. TOKEN -

Wed, January 21, 2009 - 10:48 PMOh My My by the Monkees was pretty bubble gum, but I agree "Listen to the band" & "circle Sky" were very far from Bubble Gum. Midnight Confessions by the Grass Roots was pretty Bubble Gum. I am not too familiar with Canadian Bands, except for the Guess Who & BTO.
